we were together for 5 years and split up in November because i was showing her no attention and had hurt her mentally. I had a gambling problem over the past few years and she thought i had stopped however i was still gambling. I have since stopped gambling and decided to phone her over xmas. We have met up on several occasions and have spoke on the phone every day. I have bought her meals and taken her to the flicks and have made more effort than ever before. She has since found a new man who has been cheating on her and she is going to finish the relationship. I spoke to her tonight and asked her if there was any chance of a future between us. She said that she couldnt tell me right now but i should go out there and find another girl and not hold on in vain, but she also said she loved me to bits and that i had hurt her too much and she was scared to take me back. I told her all about my gambling problems and that i am now clean and looking for a decent job. The other issue is that she is an indian sikh and i am a white male, therefore she is considering the arranged marriage route but emphasised that she would not start looking till august when she turns 26. I love the girl to bits and want a future with her, what can i do other than give her the time and attention she deserves and also get a job.
